Caption
A new study suggests that perturbations in the infant gut microbiome may explain the greater risk of morbidity and mortality in HIV-exposed, uninfected babies born to HIV-positive mothers. This material relates to a paper that appeared in the 27 July 2016, issue of Science Translational Medicine, published by AAAS. The paper, by J.M. Bender at Children's Hospital Los Angeles in Los Angeles, CA, and colleagues was titled, "Maternal HIV infection influences the microbiome of HIV-uninfected infants."
