Gold Coins Discovered at the Foot of the Temple Mount in Jerusalem during Hebrew University Excavati (IMAGE)

Thirty-six gold coins were discovered in Hebrew University excavations at the foot of the Temple Mount in Jerusalem. The coins can be dated to the reigns of different Byzantine emperors, ranging from the middle of the fourth century CE to the early seventh century CE. Also found in the excavations were a 10-cm gold medallion etched with a Temple candelabrum, ram's horn and Torah scroll, as well as gold and silver jewelry.
