Single-stage light gas gun at STAR, a Sandia facility for shock physics experiments. Laboratory test launchers at STAR can test nearly any type of material (explosives, chemical and biological simulants, ceramics, powders). We recently celebrated its first gas gun-driven impact test, which occurred on September 19, 1969.
