Protein Fluctuations (IMAGE) University of Copenhagen - Niels Bohr Institute Caption The special protein, NF-kB (blue), which is created inside the cells, is very important in the process of controlling diseases. The protein, TNF (orange) is applied outside the cell in concentrations that varies in time like a wave. The TNF protein affects the creation of the NF-kB protein inside the cell, and the scientists measured similar fluctuations in the NF-kB concentration inside the cell as the fluctuations in TNF outside the cell. The two fluctuations became coupled, and could oscillate in multiple different, yet still synchronized ways. Credit (Credit: M. Høgh Jensen og M. Heltberg, NBI) Usage Restrictions (Credit: M.
