Reconstruction of the birth of a Y chromosome in Atlantic herring. The evolution occurred in three major steps: 1) Duplication and translocation of BMPR1BB; 2) Duplication and translocation of CATSPER3; 3) Incorporation of CATSPERG on chromosome Y and loss from chromosome X.
