This is a simulation of the Deepwater Horizon blowout based on oil-in-water experimental data: distribution of oil mass in the water column? at day 60, assuming no injection of dispersant at the wellhead. We note that the highest oil concentration (red) remain at depth. Diluted oil by 5-25 folds, reaches the surface as far as 200 km downstream from the response zone of the accident.
