3D TRMM Satellite Image of March 5 Tornadic Storm

This 3-D slice through the tornadic storm over Louisiana on March 5 was captured using TRMM Precipitation Radar data. The image shows that one of these powerful tornadic thunderstorms had intense radar echoes reaching as high as 15km (~9.3 miles).
