The Figure Shows the Predicted Decline in Forested Areas across the World

Under the assumption that a tax on conventional plastics will increase the share of bioplastics relative to total plastic consumption to 5 percent. The darker the coloring, the greater the loss of forest. In the most severely affected areas, up to 1 percent of the forest cover is lost.
