Changes in Flagella Movement With Calcium-Ion (Ca2+) Treatment (IMAGE)
Caption
The study used different setups to observe various parts of V. rousseletii spheroids (A). The directional responses of flagella on live spheroids (arrows in B-E) to photostimulation are similar to flagella responses in reactivated spheroids (arrows in F, G) to Ca2+ addition, suggesting that Ca2+ is a key factor in light-sensitive motility.
