Eurypterid (2 of 2) (IMAGE)
Caption
This is a reconstruction of eurypterid (sea scorpion) chasing a condont (early vertebrate). The Soom Shale is one of only two deposits world-wide that preserves complete conodont animals including their muscles, eyes and notochord (stiffening rod). Conodonts are some of our earliest vertebrate ancestors.
