Participants in the Long-Term Ecological Reflections Project at H. J. Andrews Experimental Forest engage in a group discussion on the meaning of watershed health. The project brings the tools of the humanities to the study of forests and watersheds. Project founder Fred Swanson says writers have revealed qualities of the forest that have been invisible to the hundreds of scientists working there for more than 60 years.
