This image from Wayne Anderson's lab at Northwestern University shows atoms in a protein from the bacteria that causes anthrax. Green represents carbon atoms, blue is nitrogen, red is oxygen and yellow is sulfur. Northwestern is leading a $31 million national project to map 375 proteins in 3-D from deadly infectious diseases to help scientists create new drugs.
