Genetic Mutations May Be Linked to Infertility, Early Menopause (IMAGE)
Caption
Researchers at Washington University School of Medicine in St. Louis have identified a gene that plays an important role in fertility across multiple species. On the left is a normal fruit fly ovary with hundreds of developing eggs. On the right is a fruit fly ovary that is totally missing the NEMP gene. It is poorly developed and no eggs are visible.
