Today, about one in five children in the US are obese. That means that in just one generation alone, the number of obese kids in this country has quadrupled. Dr. Marc Michalsky, surgical director of Bariatric Surgery, studied patients who underwent bariatric surgery and results showed that patients experienced a significant loss of excess body weight and showed improvement in many obesity-related diseases within the first one to two years following surgery. Watch as he explains how this surgery reduces risk for future weight-related diseases in obese adolescents.
