Shouyuan Chen, research assistant professor of physics and astronomy, with uranium and steel casings used in the experiment. Chen and Donald Umstadter of the Diocles Extreme Light Laboratory at the University of Nebraska-Lincoln, were able to demonstrate that a newly developed laser-derived X-ray source could produce an image of uranium hidden behind thick steel.
