Brain Makes Decisions with Same Method Used to Break WW2 Enigma Code (VIDEO)
Caption
A neuron in the brain of a rhesus monkey can be heard using Turing and Wald's statistical technique. The white symbols that appear in the middle of the screen give the monkeys information, some unreliable, about which red dot it should select to receive a reward. The speed of neuronal firing increases with reliable information and decreases with unreliable information. When a positive or negative threshold is reached, the monkey makes a decision.
