A Molecular Biomarker for Glaucoma Damage (AUDIO)
Caption
When treating patients with glaucoma, doctors monitor pressure inside of the eye, trying to control the pressure as a way to preserve vision. But it's often very difficult to determine which glaucoma patients are at the greatest risk for vision loss and how quickly the eye disease may do its damage. Now, however, researchers at Washington University School of Medicine in St. Louis have identified a biomarker that may be able to identify damage more reliably and, potentially, help preserve vision in some patients. Jim Dryden has more...
