Two members of Hayes's team at Arizona State University -- graduate students Paul V. Jones and Shannon (Huey) Hilton -- work in the lab. They have separated extremely similar bacteria: antibiotic-resistant and susceptible Staphylococcus epidermidis. Their results have recently been published in the journal Analyst.
