University of Utah chemical engineers Leonard Pease and Hedieh Saffari and dermatologist Gerald Gleich mapped white blood cells in the esophagus to show that the current method of biopsying tissue from the esophagus often fails to detect the disease. The engineers are working to develop a better method.
