Kelly Monaghan WVU (IMAGE) West Virginia University Caption Kelly Monaghan—a doctoral student in the WVU School of Medicine—is researching the role that STAT5 plays in the development of multiple sclerosis. STAT5 is one of many in the body that can metaphorically turn genes on or off. In her recent study, she investigated the immune mechanisms that underpin MS, including the function of STAT5. Her findings could inform novel therapies for the disease.
