Caption
Rhayza stricta in the field. The plant is in the same family as periwinkle, which produces alkaloids that are currently used in chemotherapy protocols for leukemia and Hodgkin's lymphoma. Researchers are studying the nuclear genome sequence of Rhayza stricta to help identify new chemotherapeutic compounds.
