Early predictors of anxiety and depression may be evident in the brains of newborns even at birth. Researchers at Washington University School of Medicine in St. Louis have found that the strength and pattern of functional brain connections at the time of birth may predict whether a child is likely to develop symptoms linked to clinical depression and anxiety disorders in older children and adults.
