Optogenetic Photosensitizer Allows for Targeted Cell Manipulation (IMAGE)
Caption
Zebrafish larvae expressing FAP in the heart are treated with a normal fluorogen (left) or the targeted, activated photosensitizer (TAPS-right), then exposed to light and followed for 3 days. Only the TAPS-treated fish show defects associated with loss of cardiac function after photoablation, including loss of cardiac tissues (blue), cardiac edema, and other developmental defects.
