Schematic of transient cluster synchronization. Red balls represent the cluster synchronization states associated with the network reflection symmetries. All states are saddles, with the stable and unstable manifolds represented by the black arrows. Guided by the manifolds, the system wanders among the states in a transient and random fashion.
