Senior scientist Terra Barnes, PhD, listens to a recording of mouse vocalizations, modified to bring the pitch within the human auditory range, while watching a visual representation of the recording. Analysis of recordings from dozens of mice showed that mice carrying a mutation in a disease associated with stuttering in humans had more pauses and repetitions in their vocalizations, similar to human stuttering.
