Building a Precious Record of Climate Change, 1 Bloom at a Time (IMAGE)
Caption
From 1974 to 2012, researchers spent the spring, summer and early fall counting every flower in 30 plots at the Rocky Mountain Biological Laboratory in Crested Butte, CO. The counts took two to five hours, every other day, up to five months per year. The result is an unparalleled database of more than two million blooms counted.
