HSPB8 Protein (IMAGE) Arizona State University Caption A protein called HSPB8 was identified in the screen. HSPB8 appears to confer resistance by the surprising mechanism of blocking autophagy, a process where cells escape death by consuming proteins inside the cell. Immunofluorescence images show that after silencing HSPB8 in all drug resistant subclones, the characteristic redistribution of anti-MAP LC3 into punctuate green structures appear, indicating active autophagy.
