Dead Monarch Butterflies Among Storm Debris (IMAGE)

A severe winter storm that hit the overwintering areas of the monarch butterfly in Mexico in March 2016 has been estimated to have killed 30-38 percent of the butterflies present at the time. Here, dead butterflies can be seen amid storm debris in a photo taken two weeks after the storm.
