Joseph Heremans, a postdoctoral scholar at UChicago's Institute for Molecular Engineering, works with on an optical experiment in the laboratory. Heremans is co-lead author of a paper appearing online this week in Science Express that describes a new technique for recording the quantum behavior of an individual electron contained within an atomic-scale defect in diamond.
