Test identifies eye cancer tumors most likely to spread (AUDIO)
Caption
The most common form of cancer in the eye can be deadly. New treatments have allowed doctors to preserve vision in patients with ocular melanoma, but sometimes the cancer can spread beyond the eye to the liver. When that happens, very few patients survive. Now Washington University ophthalmologists at the Siteman Cancer Center and Barnes-Jewish Hospital in St. Louis have developed a prognostic test that can predict which ocular melanoma patients are at the highest risk for spread of their cancer.
