Migration Signaling (IMAGE) University of Chicago Medical Center Caption Fat2 and Lar are large transmembrane signaling proteins that promote the migration of the epithelial cells. When the epithelium's outer surface is visualized, Fat2 localizes to the trailing edge of each cell and Lar localizes to the leading edge of each cell. These proteins then interact across cell-cell boundaries to coordinate individual cell migratory behaviors.
