This paper is the first to be published under a project called Probabilistic Resilience Assessment of Interdependent Systems (PRAISys), a collaboration between Lehigh, Florida Atlantic University and Georgia State University. The team was awarded a grant of $2.2 million by the National Science Foundation (NSF) last year, as part of NSF's $20 million investment in new fundamental research to transform infrastructure." It is part of the Obama administration's "Smart Cities" initiative to help communities tackle local challenges and improve city services.
