The top three panels show concentrations of dissolved iron, manganese and aluminum measured during the voyage. The bottom panel shows concentration of helium-3, an unreactive gas that emanates from hydrothermal vents. Its decreasing concentration away from the ridge is a result of mixing rather than a chemical reaction.
