One of the 32 approved proposals in the DOE Joint Genome Institute's 2015 Community Science Program involves developing a genome-wide collection of several thousand mutants of the model grass Brachypodium distachyon to help domesticate the grasses that are being considered as candidate bioenergy feedstocks. The project is led by Debbie Laudencia-Chingcuanco of the USDA-ARS in Albany, Calif.
