Georgia Tech Bacteria-virus Infection Analysis (IMAGE) Georgia Institute of Technology Caption To conduct a meta-analysis of bacteria-virus infection patterns, researchers led by Georgia Tech School of Biology assistant professor Joshua Weitz converted each study into a matrix, like the one shown here, with rows containing bacterial types, columns containing virus strains, and white cells indicating that a given pair yielded an infection. Of the 38 studies, the researchers found 27 that showed significant nestedness.
