Hydrocyanine Structure (IMAGE)

A new family of reactive oxygen species (ROS) probes -- called hydrocyanines -- is synthesized by reducing a cyanine dye with sodium borohydride. Reacting with an ROS oxidizes the hydrocyanines into fluorescent cyanine dyes.
