Mountain Lion '16M' Scraping (VIDEO)
Caption
This is video from a remote camera operated by the UC Santa Cruz Puma Project that shows a male mountain lion "16M" exhibiting "scraping" behavior in the Santa Cruz Mountains near Loch Lomond Reservoir in 2011. Lions scrape leaves or duff into a pile to mark territory. UCSC researchers placed a GPS collar on the lion that records and transmits his travels and the extent of his territory.
