Containers Filled with a Tiny Cube that Detects Flammable Gas (IMAGE)
Caption
Chemists from the University of Tokyo have designed tiny nanocubes that naturally glow blue under UV light. The glow is 3.9 times brighter when the cubes are filled with flammable gas. The nanocubes are a first step towards creating an artificial system that mimics the natural building, sensing and reporting abilities of biological life.
