Low-relatedness Experiment (IMAGE) Washington University in St. Louis Caption The low-relatedness experiment the scientists did started with one cell that was allowed to divide until its descendants formed fruiting bodies. The spores were harvested and roughly a million were plated out again. This procedure was repeated 30 times for 24 different lines of cells. The experiment showed that if the amoebae were not closely related, cheating quickly became a problem.
