ガラスウェッティング新方式でマイクロレーザーを作製。イッテルビウムもしくはエルビウムを添加したリン酸塩ガラス（融解温度：摂氏500度）を溶かし、ケイ素（溶解温度：摂氏1500度）の中空毛細管の周囲に流し込む。
