This cartoon depicts a finding of the study - that cytokine signaling via the type 1 interferon receptor (IFNAR1) represses the urea cycle genes Otc and Ass1 which results in increased ornithine and decreased arginine concentrations in the liver and serum of virus infected animals. This eventually dampens antiviral T cell responses and ameliorates hepatitis.
