Col. Jeffrey R. Woods, commander of Marine Corps Bases Hawaii, looks at purified metals from the Office of Naval Research-developed Micro Gasification System (MAGS) located at Camp Smith, Hawaii. Currently under evaluation at US Marine Corps Forces, Pacific, MAGS is a solid waste disposal system that enables individual units to efficiently manage their own solid waste stream in an environmentally friendly manner.
