Dramatic Biological Responses to Global Warming in the Arctic (3 of 3) (IMAGE)
Caption
The Arctic as we know it may soon be a thing of the past, according to the research of a large, international team led by Eric Post, associate professor of biology at Penn State University. The team carried out ecosystem-wide studies of the biological response to Arctic warming, and documented a wide range of responses by the plants, birds, animals, insects and humans living there. The team's results will be reported on Sept. 11, 2009, in the journal Science. This image, taken by Post, shows an adult female muskox and two calves in Greenland during 2008-2009.
