A melanistic or dark brown morph of the Timema genus of stick insects. Utah State University biologist Zach Gompert, with colleagues from the University of Sheffield, the University of Connecticut, the University of Notre Dame and Simon Frazier University, publish findings about natural selection and the predictability of evolution, based on studies of these insects, in the Feb. 16, 2018, issue of the journal 'Science.'
