The novel catalyst design (IMAGE)
Caption
A novel catalyst design consisting of the double-decoration of nanoparticulate intermetallic platinum–gallium (Pt, black; and Ga, green, respectively) on a silicon oxide base (blue and red network). Lead (Pb, yellow) and calcium (Ca, violet) were applied to produce an ultra-stable catalyst for propane dehydrogenation at high temperatures. Lead blocked the less selective catalytic sites (Pt3), while calcium enriched selective catalytic sites (Pt1) by donating electrons (Yuki Nakaya, et al. Angewandte Chemie International Edition. July 27, 2021).
