Many studies have found that when animals eat significantly less food, they live longer. What hasn't been clear is the mechanism that controls aging and longevity in those animals. But now scientists at Washington University School of Medicine in St. Louis have traced the connection between aging and longevity to some critical pathways in the brain, the same pathways that seem to be activated when animals eat less.
