Ⅱ型DNAトポイソメラーゼ（トポⅡ）が正常に働く場合、複製された分裂酵母の 染色体DNAは二つの娘細胞へと均等に分配される（左図）。 抗がん剤ICRF-193の影響下では、染色体DNAは母細胞の中心で絡まってしまい、正しい細胞分裂が起こらない（右図、矢印）。
