Chronic inflammation is one of the things that leads to diabetes and its complications, and now scientists at Washington University School of Medicine in St. Louis have discovered that mice that can't make an enzyme for a substance called fatty acid synthase in some of their immune cells have less inflammation and don't develop diabetes. the finding could provide a target for therapy.
