An autoantibody has multiple 'hands' -- fragments that recognize targets. In the test, the antibody grabs the target immobilized on the glass surface with one hand and catches the targets passing by with the other. The process reflects what happens in the natural environment and provides quantitative information on the actual activity of antibodies in the living organism
