Atomic Structure of Narrow-Band Metallic Graphene Nanoribbon (IMAGE)
Caption
Scanning tunneling microscope image of narrow-band metallic graphene nanoribbon (GNR). The white protrusions correspond to singly-occupied electron orbitals that have been carefully arranged to form extended conducting states. Here the GNR backbone has a width just 1.6 nanometers.
